Books We Want

Please bring us books appropriate for children and students through Grade 12. We will find good homes for them. The value of your book donations is tax-deductible. Please email us if you have any questions.

We are always happy to receive:

• K-12 textbooks: All Subjects
• K-12 library books: children/youth reading and classical literature
• Classroom sets (paperback or hardback) of junior literature
• Early childhood picture books and readers
• New student workbooks (unused)
• Teacher editions
• Publishers’ samples of textbooks, workbooks and teacher editions
• National Geographic magazines (not too many – ask first, please)
• Encyclopedia sets (complete sets only) published within the last 10 years (no annual yearbooks, please). World Book Encyclopedias (complete sets) published after 1990. Sorry, no Encyclopedia Britannicas of any year, even if complete sets.
• Dictionaries; atlases if published post U.S.S.R.
• College and graduate-level texts published after 2001
• Very selected adult reading (but not textbooks)  in the categories of: politics, philosophy, current affairs, history, biography, classical literature

We usually cannot use the following….

(We wish we could take everything, but our space is tight.)

• Tests, lesson plans, student activities or worksheets
• College or graduate level texts published before 2002
• Encyclopedia annual yearbooks or any encyclopedia sets more than 10 years old; Encyclopedia Britannicas of any year
• Magazines (except National Geographic)
• Adult leisure reading of these categories: self-help, “how-to” or money-making books, diet/health books, gardening, almanacs, coffee-table books, religion, real estate, law books, books about TV, movies, military, pornography, terror or joke books, fiction “best-sellers”
• Video tapes, filmstrips, audio visual or computer equipment
